Re-Establishing the FBGC Football Program in the PGCBGC League
For the past, approximately 4 - 5 years, the Forestville Boys & Girls Club's (FBGC) football program as participated in the Capital Beltway League's (CBL) football program. Effective the 2011 football season, the FBGC will re-establish participation in the Prince Georges County Boys and Girls Club's (PGCBGC) football program.
The Forestville Falcons, Inc is a recently established CBL football program sponsored by FAAST Sports Association and is not a subsidiary of the Forestville Boys and Girls Club. The organizational name of this business entity is the same as the mascot name for the Forestville Boys and Girls Club, "The Forestville Falcons". The FBGC and the Forestville Falcons, Inc are two separate entities.
When registering for the 2011 football season, members may be confused as to the difference in the two organizations. The basic differences are as follows:
PGCBGC: Members must live within the FBGC residency boundaries established by the PGCBGC (see Boundary Map under Registration with areas highlighted in Yellow); Games are played in local areas within PG County.
CBL: Residency restriction for members are not limited to the Forestville area; Games are played throughout Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties.
PGCBGC and CBL: Team weight requirements are basically the same
Since many returning FBGC members previously participated in the CBL program, during this initial transition phase, the 2011 registration for both organizations, the FBGC and the Forestville Falcons, Inc will be held simultaneously. Thereby allowing the FBGC registration staff a better opportunity to provide program clarification to the parents on an individual basis.
The Forestville Boys and Girls Club Football program consists of both Flag and Tackle Leagues. The Leagues and Teams are based on age and weight. There are teams in the 65, 75, 85, 95, 110, 125 and 150 pound divisions. Junior and Senior Unlimited and Pee Wee Leagues are also played. The football season generally starts in August and ends on the last Saturday in November.
Pee Wee Football - Ages 6 & 7 (Age as of 12/31 of current year)
Flag Football - Ages 5 - 7 (Age as of 12/31 of current year)
Tackle Football - Ages 7 - 16 (Age as of 7/31 of current year)
65 LB - Ages 7 - 9 110 LB - Ages 11 - 14
75 LB - Ages 8 - 11 125 LB - Ages 12 - 15
85 LB - Ages 9 - 12 150 LB - Ages 13 - 16
95 LB - Ages 10 - 13
Jr. Unlimited - Ages 11 - 12
Sr. Unlimited - Ages 13 - 14
Weigh-ins for Tackle Football Weight Leagues - All players must weigh-in before the season begins.
