ABOUT US

HISTORY

In 1955, several concerned parents grouped together to form the Forestville Little League so that boys within the Forestville area could participate in organized baseball.  In 1959, the club expanded in other phases of organized sports and was renamed the Forestville Boys Club and became a participating member of the Prince George's County Boys Club (PGCBC).

Incorporation took place in 1965 when the Club became the Prince George's County Boys Club of Forestville, Incorporated (Inc.).  Another expansion occurred in 1973 to include girls and the Club became known as the Prince George's County Boys and Girls Club of Forestville, Inc.

The Forestville Boys and Girls Club, as it is known today, is under the direction of the Prince George's County Boys and Girls Club located at the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Office.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Forestville Boys & Girls Club is governed by a Board of Directors.  The Board handles the administration of the Club; grievances and schedules practices and Intramural games.  The Board is comprised of ten members elected to serve a one year term.  All members of the Board are volunteers and serve without compensation.

The Forestville Boys & Girls Club is fully sanctioned by the Prince George's County Boys and Girls Club, Boys and Girls Club of America, which is the governing body that provides guidelines and training for coaching and organizational personnel as well as the Capital Beltway League, which is backed by the NFL.  We generate all of our revenue through the collection of registration fees, fundraising activities and donations from local businesses and civic organizations.
